Information
The Meinl HCS 14" Practice Hi Hat Cymbals is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.
The Meinl HCS 14" Practice Hi Hat Cymbals are purpose-built for low-volume playing, offering a controlled and near-silent response without compromising the natural feel of a traditional hi-hat setup. Constructed from MS63 brass alloy and finished in a traditional, unlathed surface, these cymbals feature a precision-drilled hole pattern which drastically reduces air resistance, resulting in significantly lower volume and shortened sustain. With a thin weight profile, they respond quickly under the stick and foot, producing a soft, dry and controlled articulation with a mid-bright tonal character and a high-mid pitch.
In practical use, these hi-hats deliver a highly responsive and sensitive feel, with a defined yet subdued pedal “chick” and clear stick definition across the surface. The short sustain and reduced resonance allow for detailed practice work, making them ideal for acoustic settings, electronic kit integration and experimental setups where volume control is essential. Their dry, complex character ensures they remain musical while staying unobtrusive, allowing drummers to focus on timing, dynamics and technique without the excessive wash of full-volume cymbals.
