The Sonor AQ2 22" Stage Shell Maple Drum Kit is a strong choice for drummers who want a full-size maple shell set with the flexibility to choose their own cymbals, stands and pedals. Built around a 22" bass drum, two rack toms, a 16" floor tom and matching 14" snare, this is the most traditional stage-ready configuration in the AQ2 shell set range.

The AQ2 Series is built with 100% maple shells, using a combination of Canadian and Chinese maple. Sonor describes the AQ2 shell sound as mellow, warm and balanced, with low-frequency punch and a balance of mids and highs. In practical terms, that gives the kit a rounded, musical response that works well across rock, pop, funk, worship, rehearsal and live playing.

The Stage configuration is the best AQ2 option for players who want a full-size acoustic kit feel. The 22" x 17.5" bass drum gives the kit a bigger low-end foundation than the 20" Studio or 16" Safari versions, while the 10", 12" and 16" tom layout provides a familiar spread around the kit. It is a sensible choice for drummers who want one shell set that can cover practice, recording, rehearsals and live performance.

Sonor’s Smart Mount suspension system is designed to maximise tom sustain while keeping the mounting hardware compact. The AQ single lugs use Sonor’s TuneSafe system, which helps the drums hold tuning during regular playing. The snare also features 2.3mm Power Hoops, giving the included 14" x 6" snare a more substantial feel than a basic starter-kit snare.

This is a shell set rather than a complete hardware package. The DTH 4000 double tom holder is included, along with the matching snare drum, but cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, snare stand, bass drum pedal, cymbals and throne are not included. That makes it ideal for drummers upgrading shells while keeping or choosing their own hardware and cymbals.
