The Sonor AQ2 Stage configuration is designed for players who want a full-size kit with the warmth, projection and tuning stability that maple shells provide. Built from 100% maple, the AQ2 series delivers a balanced tonal character with smooth sustain, strong attack and excellent clarity across the kit, making it well suited to live performance, studio recording and rehearsal environments.
The rack toms, floor tom and snare drum are constructed from 7-ply maple shells (approximately 7.2mm thick), allowing the drums to resonate freely while maintaining a focused and articulate response. The 22" x 17.5" bass drum uses a 9-ply maple shell (approximately 8.5mm thick), providing additional strength and helping produce a deeper, more powerful low-end presence suited to modern stage setups.
This configuration features a 22" x 17.5" bass drum, delivering strong punch and depth, while the 10" x 7" and 12" x 8" rack toms offer quick attack and clear articulation. The 16" x 15" floor tom provides a full, resonant low end that anchors the kit’s overall sound. A 14" x 6" maple snare drum completes the configuration, producing a crisp and versatile voice capable of covering a wide range of musical styles.
The kit includes Sonor’s DTH 4000 double tom holder, which mounts directly to the bass drum and allows flexible positioning of the rack toms while keeping the overall footprint compact on stage. The AQ2 series also features Sonor’s SmartMount suspension system, designed to minimise contact between the mounting hardware and the drum shell to maximise resonance and sustain.
Finished in Brown Fade lacquer, the kit combines Sonor’s modern hardware design with a striking fade finish that looks equally at home on stage or in the studio.
