The Roland PD-140DS is a premium 14" digital snare pad designed to deliver the size, feel and playing techniques of an acoustic snare within a compatible V-Drums setup. Its full-size 14" shell is fitted with a three-ply mesh head featuring a floating middle layer, providing adjustable tension and a natural rebound under the stick. A multi-element sensor system and onboard sensing processor capture detailed dynamics and positional information across the playing surface, allowing compatible Roland modules to respond accurately to subtle changes in where and how the drum is played.

Digital triggering allows the PD-140DS to recognise a wide range of traditional snare techniques. Head strokes support high-resolution positional detection, rim shots respond to playing depth and cross-stick playing is detected automatically, removing the need to manually switch modes at the module. Brush sweeps are also supported, making the PD-140DS suitable for everything from delicate dynamic playing through to harder, more aggressive snare work. The reflective steel shell, eight tension rods and full-size 14-inch playing diameter give the PD-140DS a familiar acoustic-style look and feel.

Connection is handled through Roland’s DIGITAL TRIGGER OUT, with both power and trigger information carried through the supplied cable to a compatible module with a DIGITAL TRIGGER IN port. The PD-140DS is compatible with Roland modules including the V71, V51, V31, TD-27 and TD-50X, making it an excellent option for players looking to add Roland’s advanced digital snare technology to a compatible V-Drums system.
