The Roland V51 Drum Sound Module is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums!

The Roland V51 sits at the heart of the V-Drums 5 Series, delivering a high-end electronic drumming experience for serious practice, recording and performance. Built around the same internal sound engine and core library as the flagship V71, the V51 includes detailed multi-sampled drum sounds developed in collaboration with Drum Workshop (DW). Multi-layer playback, round-robin variation and Roland’s behaviour modelling help create natural changes in tone and articulation across different velocities and playing techniques.

The onboard library includes more than 1,000 instruments, with space for 200 drum kits and more than 70 preset kits. The V51 also supports compatible V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs through Roland Cloud, with up to six Instrument Expansions active at once. Built-in wireless connectivity and the Roland Cloud Connect app make it possible to audition and download additional content directly to the module, while six months of Roland Cloud Ultimate access is included.

Extensive editing allows players to shape tuning, head type, dampening, snare-wire tension, microphone distance and more, with up to three sound layers available per pad assignment using internal instruments or imported samples. Processing includes EQ, transient shaping, compression, overhead simulation, room and reverb effects, kit resonance, bus effects and master processing. The dedicated V51 Editor for macOS and Windows provides a larger graphical interface for deeper kit creation and editing.

A 4.3-inch colour LCD and six dedicated faders for kick, snare, toms, hi-hat, cymbals and ambience provide quick hands-on control. The V51 also works with the V-Drums Play app for iOS and Android, while Bluetooth audio and MIDI, SD card playback and recording, and integrated practice tools including Phrase Trainer, Stroke Monitor, Blast Beast, Time Check and Quiet Count make it well equipped for everyday practice and learning. Drum Pass also provides access to 100 interactive Melodics lessons.

Connectivity is equally comprehensive, with a multi-pin trigger harness, four additional analogue trigger inputs and three digital trigger inputs for compatible Roland digital snare, ride and hi-hat pads. Stereo master outputs, two direct outputs, dual headphone connections, mix input and MIDI In / Out-Thru are joined by USB-C audio and MIDI, supporting up to 32 channels of recording and 32 channels of playback in Vendor Mode for detailed multitrack recording through a single USB connection.

Combining V71-derived sound technology with deep editing, Roland Cloud expansion, digital trigger support and extensive recording connectivity, the V51 is a powerful choice for drummers building a premium electronic setup or upgrading an existing compatible V-Drums system.
