The Pearl Primal Snare Collective 14" x 6.5" Steel Snare Drum delivers the bright, lively character of steel with the added body and power of a deeper shell. Designed as part of Pearl's Primal Snare Collective, it combines a strong fundamental tone with excellent projection and an articulate response.

Built around a 1mm beaded chrome steel shell, this model produces a crisp attack with plenty of high-end presence and sustained tonal character. The 14" x 6.5" dimensions give the drum more body than the shallower 5.5" version while retaining the immediacy and definition associated with a steel snare.

1mm Beaded Steel Shell

The 1mm chrome steel shell provides a bright and energetic voice with plenty of cut and projection. Steel naturally produces a lively response, helping the drum remain clearly defined through amplified instruments and dense live mixes.

A reinforcing bead is formed into the shell, helping to focus the fundamental while retaining the open sustain and overtone character that give steel snares their distinctive sound.

Full and Articulate 14" x 6.5" Response

The 14" x 6.5" configuration adds greater depth and tonal weight while retaining a familiar playing surface and responsive feel. Pearl describes this particular model as full, loud and articulate, making it particularly suited to strong backbeats and situations where the snare needs to project with authority.

The deeper shell also provides additional body compared with the 5.5" version, giving players a broader and more substantial steel snare sound without sacrificing clarity or attack.

Performance-Focused Hardware

The drum is fitted with 2.3mm ten-hole triple-flanged hoops, providing dependable tuning stability and durability while allowing the shell to retain an open and responsive character.

Pearl PSCL55 dual lugs are mounted centrally on the shell, while the SR-01NRS snare strainer and SR-01ERSH snare wires provide straightforward and reliable control of the snare response. The Mirror Chrome finish completes the drum with a clean, classic metal-snare appearance.
