Part of the acclaimed Mapex Black Panther Series, the Switchblade is a versatile maple snare drum designed for drummers who value articulation, projection and musical sensitivity in equal measure. Built around a 6-ply, 6mm American maple shell, it delivers a crisp, defined attack with plenty of body and warmth, making it equally at home in the studio, rehearsal room or on stage. The relatively shallow 5.5" depth helps the drum respond quickly, producing a sharp, articulate voice that remains controlled whilst still offering plenty of character.

One of the defining features of the Switchblade is its combination of single-flanged hoops and Mapex's renowned SONIClear bearing edges. Together, they allow the shell to resonate freely whilst enhancing tuning stability and maximising the drum's fundamental note. The result is an open, lively sound with excellent dynamic response and a broad tuning range. Whether tuned high for crack and articulation or lower for a fatter, more controlled backbeat, the Switchblade maintains impressive clarity and projection.

Mapex has also equipped the Switchblade with premium Black Panther hardware throughout, including the cylinder-drive strainer system with self-lubricating bearings for smooth operation and micro-lock adjustment knobs for precise snare wire tension control. Finished in a striking Aegean Burl veneer with chrome hardware, this is a snare drum that stands out visually as much as it does sonically.
