Information
The Mapex Black Panther 14" x 6.5" Shadow Birch/Walnut Snare Drum is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.
Built around a 7-ply, 6.85mm hybrid birch/walnut shell, the Shadow combines the attack and clarity of birch with the darker, warmer character of walnut. Its 14" x 6.5" dimensions give the drum plenty of body and depth while retaining a controlled, articulate response.
The Shadow pairs its hybrid shell with Mapex SONIClear bearing edges, Sonic Saver hoops and the BP Cylinder Drive strainer system, creating a versatile snare with strong projection, clear rimshots and precise snare-wire adjustment.
Hybrid Birch/Walnut Shell
The 7-ply, 6.85mm shell blends birch and walnut to produce a balanced voice with defined attack, a strong fundamental note and a darker overall tonal character.
SONIClear Bearing Edges
SONIClear bearing edges use a 45° batter-side and 35° snare-side profile, helping the heads seat consistently while supporting tuning stability, response and snare sensitivity.
Triple-Vented Chamber
The triple-vented shell design helps regulate airflow through the drum, contributing to a controlled and responsive playing feel.
Sonic Saver Hoops
Mapex Sonic Saver hoops provide a solid playing feel with strong rimshots and cross-sticks while allowing the drum to retain an open and responsive character.
Cylinder Drive Strainer
The BP Cylinder Drive snare strainer and butt plate feature Microlock adjustment, allowing precise control over snare-wire tension and helping keep settings secure during playing.
