Information
The Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Cherry Bomb Snare Drum is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.
A reworked version of the original Black Panther Cherry Bomb, this Design Lab model is built around a medium-thick Cherry wood shell designed to deliver a warm, focused and punchy snare sound with a distinctly vintage-inspired character.
Cherry's relatively soft density naturally controls higher overtones while retaining a strong low-end response and plenty of attack. Combined with SONIClear™ bearing edges, Puresound snare wires and Mapex's Cylinder-Drive strainer system, the Cherry Bomb balances classic tone with modern tuning stability, sensitivity and control.
Black Panther Design Lab Features
Cherry Wood Shell
The medium-thick Cherry shell naturally absorbs some higher overtones, helping produce a warm, focused response with a strong low-end fundamental and a punchy backbeat.
Vintage-Inspired Tonal Character
The Cherry shell emphasises the lower 400–600Hz range while retaining additional attack in the upper frequencies, giving the Cherry Bomb a powerful but controlled character particularly well suited to classic rock and alternative styles.
SONIClear™ Bearing Edge
Mapex's SONIClear™ bearing edge allows the drumhead to sit flatter and make more consistent contact with the shell, helping provide a clearer fundamental pitch, easier tuning and a wider usable tuning range.
Puresound Custom Series Snare Wires
Puresound Custom Series 16-strand snare wires use evenly spaced medium-gauge coils to provide a balanced response between the snare wires and the natural sound of the Cherry shell.
Cylinder-Drive Strainer & Butt-End Adjuster
The Cylinder-Drive strainer and butt-end adjuster use self-lubricating bearings for smooth operation. Mapex's micro-lock adjustment system provides precise control over snare-wire tension while helping prevent the setting from loosening during play.
