The Sterling Crash Ride is Istanbul Agop's collaboration with acclaimed studio drummer Aaron Sterling, whose credits include John Mayer and Taylor Swift. The brief was a cymbal that feels distinctly modern but is rooted in the classic sounds of the 1960s, and the result is a true crash-ride: one cymbal that covers both jobs rather than forcing you to choose. Like every Istanbul Agop cymbal it is hand-hammered from B20 bronze, so the modern voicing still sits on a traditional Turkish foundation.

At 20 inches it opens up quickly for its size, with clear, articulate stick definition, a bright shimmer and a warm, full crash. The standout is the bell, which is larger and far more present than you usually find on an Agop, giving you a clean, transparent bell tone for accents and ostinato patterns. Ride on it and the sustain stays controlled with a mellow, slightly dark wash underneath the stick, so it holds a defined ride pattern without washing out.
