The Sonor AQ1 20" Studio Birch Drum Kit is a compact but fully usable acoustic kit package for drummers who want the response of birch shells in a slightly smaller configuration. Supplied with Sonor’s HS 2000 hardware set and DTH 2000 double tom holder, the AQ1 Studio is well suited to students, developing players, rehearsal spaces, teaching rooms and players who prefer a tighter footprint than a 22" kit.

The AQ1 range is a noticeable step up from a basic starter kit. Its 100% birch shells produce a focused attack, clear projection and controlled sustain, which helps the drums sit cleanly in rehearsal and live situations. Birch is often chosen for its definition and punch, making it a good shell material for players who want a kit that responds quickly and cuts through without sounding overly boomy.

The 20" Studio configuration is the key reason to choose this version over the 22" Stage model. The 20" x 16" bass drum gives a tighter, more controlled low-end response and takes up less room on stage or at home. The 10", 12" and 14" tom layout still feels like a proper five-piece acoustic kit, but the smaller floor tom and bass drum make the setup easier to position in tighter spaces.

Sonor’s Smart Mount suspension system keeps the rack tom mounting clean and compact, helping the toms resonate while keeping setup straightforward. The AQ single lugs use Sonor’s TuneSafe system, which is designed to help the drums hold their tuning during regular playing. For a kit that may be used for lessons, rehearsals and repeated setup/pack-down, that stability is a useful practical feature.

This AQ1 Studio package includes the HS 2000 hardware set and DTH 2000 double tom holder. Cymbals, drum throne and sticks are not included, allowing players to choose those separately based on budget, brand preference and playing style.
