The Sonor AQ1 22" Stage Birch Drum Kit is designed for drummers who want a serious acoustic kit package with stronger shell construction and hardware than a basic starter set. Built with 100% birch shells and supplied with Sonor’s HS 2000 hardware set, the AQ1 Stage is a strong choice for ambitious beginners, students, rehearsal rooms and developing players who want a kit that feels ready for regular use.

The main reason to choose the AQ1 range over Sonor’s entry-level AQX kits is the jump to birch shell construction and heavier-duty hardware. Birch is known for a focused attack, clear note definition and controlled sustain, which makes it a practical shell material for rock, pop, indie, rehearsal and live work. It gives the kit a more direct response than softer shell materials, helping the drums speak clearly when tuned and played with confidence.

The 22" Stage configuration is the fuller-sized AQ1 setup. The 22" x 17.5" bass drum gives the kit a strong low-end foundation and a more traditional stage footprint, while the 10", 12" and 16" tom layout gives players the familiar spread found on many intermediate and professional drum kits. For players who want one kit for lessons, practice, rehearsals and future gigging, the Stage layout is the most versatile AQ1 option.

Sonor’s Smart Mount suspension system helps the rack toms resonate more freely by keeping the mounting hardware compact and reducing unnecessary shell contact. The AQ single lugs include Sonor’s TuneSafe system, designed to help the drums stay in tune during regular playing. These are useful details on a kit aimed at developing players, where tuning stability and straightforward setup make a real difference day to day.

This AQ1 package includes the HS 2000 hardware set and DTH 2000 double tom holder, making it a more complete acoustic kit package than a shell pack. Cymbals, drum throne and sticks are not included, so those can be chosen separately to suit the player and budget.
