Part of the Black Panther Design Lab range, the Heartbreaker is designed around a dark, throaty and slightly dry tonal character, combining vintage-inspired warmth with the precision and control expected from a modern professional snare drum.
Its 14" x 6" shell is paired with SONIClear™ bearing edges, Sonic Saver hoops, a deep graduated snare bed, dual air vents and premium Puresound snare wires, creating a focused and articulate response that works particularly well for rock, alternative and more organic styles of playing.
Black Panther Design Lab Features
8-Ply Cherry Shell
The Heartbreaker features an 8mm, 8-ply Cherry shell combined with 4-ply Mahogany reinforcement rings, creating a warm and full-bodied foundation with a darker, more controlled overall character.
SONIClear™ Bearing Edges
45° SONIClear™ bearing edges allow the drumhead to sit flatter and make more consistent contact with the shell, helping provide a clearer fundamental pitch, easier tuning and a wider usable tuning range.
Deep Graduated Snare Bed
A 2.7mm deep, 5.5" graduated snare bed helps produce the Heartbreaker's dry, articulate and controlled snare response, giving the wires consistent contact across the bottom head.
Sonic Saver Hoops
Mapex Sonic Saver hoops help focus the drum's response while retaining the distinctive feel and projection associated with the Black Panther Design Lab series.
Dual Air Venting

The Cylinder-Drive strainer and butt-end adjuster use self-lubricating bearings for smooth operation. Mapex's micro-lock adjustment system provides precise snare-wire control while helping prevent the tension setting from loosening during play.
Puresound Custom Series Snare Wires
Puresound Custom Series 16-strand snare wires use evenly spaced medium-gauge coils to provide a balanced response between the snare wires and the natural sound of the shell.
