Explore Our Drum Stick Range

Our drum stick range includes conventional wooden sticks, multi-rods, brushes, mallets, bass drum beaters and stick holders. Together, these options cover different playing feels, volume levels and sounds, from everyday kit playing to lower-volume sessions, cymbal swells and practical on-kit storage.

Need help choosing drum sticks?

Read our Drum Stick Buying Guide for a detailed explanation of stick sizes, materials, tip shapes, balance and the factors worth considering before you buy.

Explore the Six Main Drum Stick Categories

Browse the six main categories below. Each example introduces the role of that product type and links to the wider range.

Drum Sticks

Example: Vic Firth American Classic 5A

Conventional sticks vary in size, taper, wood and tip shape. A 5A is a balanced all-round reference point for many players.

Multi-Rods

Example: Ramrods Classic Birch Rod

Bundled dowels reduce volume while keeping a more stick-like attack than brushes, making them useful for acoustic sessions and controlled playing.

Brushes

Example: Vic Firth Wire Brushes

Brushes provide softer articulation and sweeping snare textures. Retractable wire designs also allow the spread to be adjusted and protected between uses.

Mallets

Example: Meinl Medium Drumset Mallets

Drumset mallets are used for cymbal swells, rolling tom parts and warmer effects that are difficult to achieve with wooden tips.

Beaters

Example: Gibraltar G5 Bass Drum Beater

Beater weight, shape and surface affect both pedal feel and bass drum attack. Heavier designs generally create a firmer, more solid strike.

Stick Holders

Example: Vic Firth Stick Caddy

Stick holders attach to hardware and keep spare sticks, brushes or rods within easy reach during practice, recording and live playing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What drum stick size should I start with?

A 5A is a useful starting point because it sits between common lighter and heavier sizes. The best choice still depends on hand size, technique, music and preferred playing volume.

What is the difference between multi-rods and brushes?

Multi-rods use bundled dowels for a quieter but still stick-like response. Brushes produce softer articulation and can also create sweeping textures on a coated snare head.

Does a bass drum beater change the sound?

Yes. Surface material, shape and weight affect both bass drum attack and pedal response, making a beater change a simple way to alter feel and sound.

Can I compare drum sticks at Graham Russell Drums?

Yes. Products held at our Fareham store can be compared in person, and our team can explain differences in size, balance, material and feel. Please check the product location before travelling.
