The Yamaha FP9D Direct Drive Single Pedal is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums!

The Yamaha FP9D is the direct-drive model in Yamaha’s flagship FP9 series, engineered to deliver a highly responsive and mechanically precise single bass drum pedal. Instead of a chain or strap, the pedal uses a rigid direct drive linkage, creating an immediate transfer of motion from footboard to beater with very little lag. This design produces a fast, articulate response and a consistent feel throughout the stroke. The FP9D also incorporates Yamaha’s Quick Adjusting Cam / Link, which allows the cam position to be set in three different positions to alter the pedal’s response and resistance curve while maintaining the accuracy of the direct drive system.

The pedal is designed with a wide range of mechanical adjustments so players can fine-tune the feel precisely. Beater angle and footboard angle can be adjusted independently, allowing preferred settings to be reproduced accurately using the integrated angle indicator. Yamaha’s axle stabilising bearing chamber aligns the shaft and bearings to reduce friction and improve rotational stability, while the low-profile stabilising hinge supports smoother footboard motion. The FP9D also includes weight-adjustable beaters, supplied with interchangeable aluminium (3 g) and brass (9 g) weights that can be fitted to modify the pedal’s feel and attack. Additional stability comes from anti-skid heel spikes and a secure bass drum hoop clamp, helping the pedal remain firmly positioned during performance.
