The Yamaha FP9500D is a professional single bass drum pedal that uses a rigid direct drive linkage, connecting the footboard directly to the rocker shaft via a solid cast link. This design removes the chain or strap found on other drive types and creates a fast, immediate response with very little mechanical lag between foot movement and beater motion. The FP9500D is built around Yamaha’s rigid sub-frame structure, positioned beneath the rocker shaft to increase overall stability and maintain accurate bearing alignment during playing. This construction helps reduce flex in the frame and supports smoother, more consistent pedal motion.

The pedal features Yamaha’s straightforward mechanical adjustment system, allowing beater angle, footboard angle, and spring tension to be adjusted independently using a drum key. A spring roller with built-in bearings improves the smoothness of the return action, while the ball-bearing rocker shaft helps maintain low-friction rotation throughout the stroke. The pedal is supplied with Yamaha’s 2-way beater, offering both felt and hard plastic striking surfaces, and uses a teardrop-style beater shaft lock designed to hold the beater securely and prevent rotation during playing. A side-mounted bass drum hoop clamp allows the pedal to attach securely to a range of hoop thicknesses, and the FP9500D is supplied with a Yamaha semi-hard pedal case for transport and storage.
