The Yamaha DFP9500D is the direct-drive version of Yamaha’s professional 9500-series double bass drum pedal, designed to deliver fast response and precise control through a rigid direct drive linkage. Instead of using a chain or strap, the pedal connects the footboards to the rocker shafts with a solid cast link, creating an immediate transfer of motion from foot to beater. This direct drive system also assists the rebound of the footboard, helping the pedal return quickly after each stroke and giving the pedal its characteristically fast, articulate feel.

The pedal frame incorporates Yamaha’s rigid sub-frame stabiliser design, positioned beneath the rocker shafts to reduce frame flex and keep the bearings aligned during playing. This construction contributes to smoother, more stable movement across both the primary and slave pedals. The DFP9500D offers a full range of mechanical adjustments, including independent beater angle adjustment, footboard angle adjustment, and spring tension adjustment with a self-locking mechanism to prevent movement during performance. Yamaha’s spring roller with built-in bearings supports smoother return action, while the tear-drop shaped beater shaft hub locks the beater securely in place and prevents rotation. Each pedal is fitted with Yamaha’s 2-way beater, offering felt and hard plastic striking surfaces, and the side-adjustable bass drum hoop clamp provides secure attachment to a variety of hoop thicknesses. The pedal is supplied with a Yamaha semi-hard carrying case to protect the pedals, beaters and linkage during transport.
