I purchased a set of Vic Firth practice pads for my second kit which I mostly keep in my music room for practicing on. They muffle the sound of the drums perfectly adequately whilst I can still get the overall feel, most importantly on the kick which I was most concerned about. I can still do double strokes on the snare although buzz rolls don't really work, but that's not a problem. The pads are robust and generally of good quality.
