This used Sonor Phonic 1875-1975 Centennial Badge 24" Drum Kit, Black is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.

Overall Condition: Showing its age with some light marks and scratches on the wrap as well as some marks and pitting on the hardware but generally speaking, for a 50 year old drum kit, this thing is great and sounds absolutely unbelievable… A true piece of Sonor history…

The 1875-1975 badge marks Sonor's centennial, the company's hundredth year, and it sits on the Phonic, the series that set the standard the brand is still measured by. These were built almost entirely in-house in Germany from nine-ply beech shells cut from dense heartwood, with the 45 degree bearing edge Sonor introduced that same year in 1975 and still uses today. Genuine beech Phonics are not easy to find now, since they sold in small numbers when new, and a full eight-piece "monster kit" like this one is rarer still.

This is very much a 1970s monster kit. The single-headed concert toms give a fast, punchy, focused attack that mics up cleanly and reads loud in a room, with the 24 inch bass drum adding real depth underneath. We have had plenty of vintage Sonor through the showroom, and this one lives up to it: for a fifty-year-old kit it sounds genuinely unbelievable, and it is a proper piece of Sonor history.
