This used Sonor Horst Link Signature Series 22" Beech Drum Kit, Bubinga is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.

Overall Condition: A fantastic example of open of these iconic drum kits from Sonor! It has a few marks here and there, some light scratches, hoop rash and some tom rash on the bass drum (see photos) but otherwise this kit is in very good condition and sounds absolutely monstrous! While the tom stand and double cymbal stand are included, they are damaged with a notable crack on the arm mounts. At the moment these seem to not affect usability in any way but worth noting for future reference. The double tom holder for the bass drum is not damaged.

In the 1980s Sonor's top line was the Signature, the kit that earned the brand its Rolls-Royce of drums reputation, and Horst Link, the company's master engineer, thought enough of it to put his own signature on every badge. This is the beech version, which is the heavy shell: twelve plies, formed tension-free, finished inside and out in African Bubinga. That heavy beech is what gives it the dry, controlled, enormous attack the Signatures are known for, a sound that made them a studio and stage favourite, and it was the first drum set anywhere to carry a ten-year warranty.

The configuration is pure 1980s Sonor too, with deep, square-sized rack toms running from 8 through 14 inches, a 16 inch floor tom and a deep 22 inch bass underneath. Heavy beech Sonor from this era was the kit behind a great deal of 80s and 90s rock and metal, from Nicko McBrain and Phil Rudd to Steve Smith, so it is a sound you have heard on plenty of records whether you knew it or not. We have had a lot of high-end Sonor through the showroom, and the description on this one is fair: it sounds absolutely monstrous, and it is one of the genuinely iconic Sonor kits to own.
