100% Mahogany Shell

The Maximus features an 8-ply Mahogany shell with 4-ply Mahogany reinforcement rings at both the top and bottom. This construction gives the drum a warm, rounded voice with plenty of body and a distinctly vintage-inspired character.

Specially Designed Snare Bed

A carefully shaped snare bed helps the wires respond evenly across a wide dynamic range, supporting the sensitive articulation needed for light jazz playing while retaining clarity when the drum is played harder.

SONIClear™ Bearing Edge

Mapex's SONIClear™ bearing edge allows the drumhead to sit flatter against the shell for increased head-to-edge contact. This helps produce a stronger fundamental pitch, consistent tuning and a wider usable tuning range while allowing more of the Mahogany shell's natural character to come through.

Sonic Saver™ Hoops

The inward flange and additional mass of the Sonic Saver™ hoops help focus and control the drum's response, contributing to a more contained projection and a slightly more closed, vintage-inspired tonal character.

Master Tune Lug™

Mapex's Master Tune Lug™ uses a compact body to minimise metal-to-wood contact, while an integrated pressure-locking mechanism is designed to help maintain tuning stability during extended playing and performance.

Air Flow Venting

Multiple air-flow vents are used to influence the feel and overall resonance of the shell. These vents are positioned in line with the lugs along the nodal line to minimise their effect on shell vibration.

SONIClear™ Attenuation System Finish
