The Xist Dry Dark Brilliant series takes the Xist range's blend of modern production and traditional Turkish hand-hammering and pushes it towards a darker, drier and more trashy voice, finished with the brighter brilliant surface for extra shimmer on top of that character. At 17 inches, this pair sits low-pitched and dark, but with a bright, pointed attack cutting through the darkness rather than a dull thud, which gives them plenty of definition even at that lower pitch.

The pairing is built for contrast: a very thin top cymbal sits over a medium-heavy bottom, so closed playing gives a crisp chick with real trashy character, while opening them up brings a broader, washed-out sound with plenty of dirt in it. That thin top also works well on its own, delivering an explosive, dry crash if you want to press it into service beyond the hi-hat stand, and the pair takes well to stacking if you are after something even more textured. The 17 inch size and lower pitch make them a strong fit for heavier playing styles, as well as anywhere you want hi-hats with genuine character rather than a clean, neutral chick sound.
