The Special Edition Jazz series was built to bring together the character of two of Istanbul Agop's most respected jazz rides, the Mel Lewis and the Agop Signature. A unique vintage-style lathing on the top is paired with a very light Agop Signature-style lathing underneath, and that combination gives the cymbal its dark, complex overtones alongside a smoother high end and clear stick definition. The result is a woody, articulate ride with dry overtones and a controlled wash that sits under the music rather than over it.

At 19 inches this is one of the more compact rides in the series, so the response is tighter and more focused than the larger 20 to 24 inch models, with a quicker decay and a slightly higher pitch. That suits lower-volume jazz, trio and small-ensemble playing, brushwork and studio settings where you want every note to speak without a bright or washy top end taking over the kit. Hand-hammered from B20 bronze in Turkey and finished individually, each one carries small variations in hammering and lathing that are part of its character rather than a flaw.
