The Sonor AQX 22” Stage Drum Kit is designed for beginner and developing drummers who want a proper acoustic drum kit package from the start. Supplied with poplar shells, Sonor 1000 Series hardware and a B8 bronze cymbal set, the AQX Stage gives new players a solid foundation without needing to piece together a kit separately.

The AQX Series sits at the entry point of the Sonor acoustic drum range, but it still includes several important design features from the wider AQ family. Sonor’s AQ cast lugs include the TuneSafe system, which is designed to help prevent the drums from detuning during regular playing. For a beginner or student kit, that is a useful feature, as it helps keep the drums more stable between practice sessions, lessons and rehearsals.

The 9-ply, 7.2mm poplar shells give the kit a warm, usable sound with more mid-to-low frequency response and a softer attack than harder woods such as maple, birch or beech. This makes the AQX a practical choice for players who need a drum kit that works across rock, pop, indie, worship, school and rehearsal settings. The 45° bearing edges also give the drums a clear response and allow the heads to seat properly when tuning.

The 22” Stage configuration is the larger of the main AQX complete kit options. The 22” x 16” bass drum gives the kit a fuller low-end feel and a more traditional stage-ready footprint, while the 10”, 12” and 16” tom setup provides a familiar layout that many drummers will recognise from intermediate and professional drum kits. If you are looking for a first acoustic kit that feels like a full-size setup, the AQX Stage is the stronger choice over the smaller 20” Studio version.

This package also includes Sonor’s HS 1000 hardware set, a DTH 2000 double tom holder and a B8 cymbal set, giving players the main components needed for a playable acoustic setup. The hardware set includes two cymbal stands, a snare stand, hi-hat stand and single bass drum pedal, while the cymbal set includes 14” hi-hats, a 16” crash and a 20” ride.
