The Slingerland Radio King 14" x 7" is a faithful modern recreation of one of the most important snare drum designs in drum history, built around a solid, steam-bent North American maple shell rather than a conventional multi-ply construction. That shell design is central to the Radio King identity, producing the warm, full-bodied response and broad dynamic range that made the original drums so distinctive. At 14" x 7", this version offers added depth and authority, with a thick, powerful backbeat, wide tuning range and a rich, resonant character that still retains excellent articulation. The shell is cut with 30-degree rounded bearing edges, increasing head-to-shell contact for a fuller, more substantial tone.
