The Mapex Black Panther Design Lab 14" x 5.5" Craig Blundell Signature Machine Snare Drum is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.
Developed with Craig Blundell as part of the Black Panther Design Lab range, the Machine is built around a 6-ply Walnut/Maple hybrid shell in a versatile 14" x 5.5" size. Its combination of premium shell construction, specialised heads and carefully selected hardware gives the drum a distinctive specification designed around precision, sensitivity and control.
The shell is paired with 45° bearing edges on both the batter and resonant sides, Sonic Saver hoops and offset Black Nickel lugs. A specially commissioned Aquarian Hi-Energy batter head and Classic Clear resonant head complete the playing surfaces, while Puresound Equalizer snare wires and a multi-step Trick throw-off provide detailed control over the snare response.

Walnut/Maple Hybrid Shell
The Machine features a 6-ply Walnut/Maple hybrid shell, combining two contrasting tonewoods within a compact 14" x 5.5" design.
45° Bearing Edges
45° bearing edges are used on both the top and bottom of the shell, providing a clean and consistent contact point for the batter and resonant heads.
Sonic Saver Hoops
Mapex Sonic Saver hoops are fitted to the Machine, complementing the Design Lab construction while providing a solid, controlled playing feel.
Aquarian Drumheads
The snare is fitted with a specially commissioned Aquarian Hi-Energy batter head and Classic Clear resonant head, selected specifically for the Machine's overall design and response.
Puresound Equalizer Snare Wires
A set of Puresound Equalizer 16-strand snare wires provides the snare response, forming part of the carefully specified combination of heads, wires and shell construction.
Multi-Step Trick Throw-Off
The Machine is equipped with a premium multi-step Trick throw-off, giving the player additional control over the engagement and adjustment of the snare wires.
Offset Black Nickel Lugs
Offset Black Nickel lugs complete the Machine's distinctive appearance, giving the drum a modern visual identity that matches its premium Design Lab specification.
