Information
The Istanbul Agop Turk 18” Crash Cymbal is now available with us at Graham Russell Drums.
Handcrafted in Istanbul from traditional B20 bronze alloy, this crash cymbal is part of the Turk series, defined by its completely unlathed surface and raw, natural finish. The absence of lathing preserves the original cast surface of the bronze, while extensive hand hammering shapes a highly controlled and complex tonal profile. The 18" diameter combined with a thin weight results in a fast, responsive feel with a slightly lower pitch and a more focused spread compared to smaller models.
This crash cymbal delivers a distinctly dry, dark and earthy voice with a fast, trashy attack and very quick decay. The unlathed surface significantly reduces high-frequency overtones, producing a short, controlled wash with minimal sustain. Stick definition remains subtle and integrated within the overall sound, making it highly responsive to dynamic playing. This cymbal is particularly well suited to jazz, experimental, low-volume and studio applications where control, texture and tonal complexity are essential.
