The Hive “The Worker” is a handcrafted 14" x 6" aluminium snare drum built around a robust 3mm aluminium shell, designed to deliver a focused, articulate response with strong projection and controlled overtones. Aluminium shells are known for their crisp attack and balanced tonal character, offering clarity and sensitivity across a wide dynamic range. The shell is finished in a brushed natural to tinted powder coat, protected by a matt clear top coat that highlights the raw metal texture while providing durability. The drum’s construction features solid rivets for added structural integrity, contributing to the drum’s distinctive industrial aesthetic and rugged build.
Hardware components are chosen for reliability and precise operation. The drum is fitted with a Trick throw-off, known for its smooth action and dependable snare engagement, along with chrome tube lugs mounted on grey backing plates. A stainless steel Hive Drums badge adds a distinctive finishing detail to the shell. The drum is equipped with chrome triple-flanged hoops, providing a balanced feel and open tonal response. It is supplied with Evans HD Dry drum heads, which incorporate small vent holes around the edge of the batter head to help control overtones and deliver a tighter, more focused snare sound suited to a wide range of playing styles.
