Buying a Used Snare Drum
Used snare drums can offer excellent value, whether you are upgrading your main snare, adding a different sound to your setup or looking for a discontinued, vintage or unusual model. Our changing selection includes wood, metal and specialist shell constructions across a wide range of sizes, brands and price points.
What should you consider when buying used?
- Condition: cosmetic marks are normal on pre-owned drums, so check the product photographs and description for details specific to each snare.
- Shell and size: material, diameter and depth help determine the drum’s basic character, but hoops, heads, wires and tuning also make a considerable difference.
- Value: price reflects the model, condition, rarity and specification, rather than simply the age of the drum.
- Availability: used snares are normally individual items, so the selection changes regularly and a particular drum may not return once sold.
Every used snare drum we receive is checked and serviced before sale. We have more than 20 years of experience buying and selling used drums. Our used snares are displayed at our Fareham showroom, where you can play and compare them before buying. If you are travelling to try a particular drum, please check its availability first.
