Here we have an absolutely stunning original Grestch Broadkaster outfit, which was hand crafted at the original Gretsch factory in Brooklyn, NYC, circa the 1950's. This kit is packed with character and is overall in excellent condition considering it's age. Featuring the classic 3 ply Maple/Poplar/Maple shell, this kit projects so much warmth and clarity especially as the wood has now become beautifully matured to create an even more classic tone.
This set had one owner from new, in America, who played in a Polka band so the usage is quite minimal considering the age of the drums. The bass drum and snare have had more use than the toms as you'll notice the colour is more yellow on those two drums. The drums were sold to a well known drum store in New York and then were bought buy a gentleman in Manchester as a collectors item and they have now found their way to us..
Original owner painted the bass drum hoops red, probably to be in keeping with his bands colour theme!
The kit was originally made to be left handed, leaving original drill holes for the rail mount in place for a left hander as well as a right hander (see photo's).
The snare drum has had the strainer replaced with a new version of the original strainer. We do also have the original strainer to include with the kit.
Wrap is in great condition with virtually no signs of lifting or damage.
The chrome work is in great condition for it's age with only light pitting in areas as expected. No major damage or heavy corrosion etc.
Original bass drum spurs & floor tom legs/brackets, all fully functioning.
Fully functioning original internal mufflers in the 13" tom (batter & reso).
The 16" floor tom has 4 open holes where the internal mufflers were originally fitted, however these have been removed at some point (see photo's above)
